What to expect when you file an insurance claim

Having a car accident or experiencing damage to your property can be stressful. That’s why we help make it easy for you to report a claim 24/7 and get the services you need to get back on track. Here is a simplified version of the claims process. Depending on the size and complexity of your insurance claim, additional steps and investigation may be required.

1. Reporting the Claim

You can make your insurance claim in whatever way suits you best:

ii. Use the Timberland Insurance App
iii. Contact the insurance company directly

2. Assessing your Claim

One of the claim experts from the insurance company will review the details of your insurance claim. Depending on the type and size of your claim, it can be handled it over the phone, or an adjuster will be sent out to assess your claim and provide an estimate (time and cost) for repairs.

3. Getting you back on Track

One of the claims experts from the insurance company can arrange for repairs and any medical care you need through our network of trusted vendor partners and medical professionals. You can feel secure knowing the insurance company is working hard to get you back to normal as quickly as possible and settle your insurance claim.

What steps should I take after I have had an Automobile Loss?
Stay calm. If you’re ok, make sure others are, too. If you can, assist anyone who is injured and gather information. Get help if you need it and make the area as safe as you can. If there’s major damage or injuries, call 911. Collect names, addresses and phone numbers of the other drivers.
What steps should I take after I have had a Property Loss?
Contact police about burglaries, thefts, and accidents that involve injuries or damage to property. Protect yourself from further damage by making temporary repairs as necessary. Keep your receipts.
My Claim has been opened, now what?
A team of professionals is going to help you through your claim. Depending on your situation, your claim team could include several different people who will manage your claim as supportively and quickly as possible. Shortly after the adjuster first contacts you, your claim team may follow up to better assess the damage or injury. They may request photographs, ask to schedule a visit, or gather other information to help them understand the specifics of your situation.
Confirming Your Claim Status
Once your claim team has collected the necessary information, they will advise you if your claim is covered by the policy. If it is, your claim handling will move forward. Your team will also keep you informed of next steps and will provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions throughout the process.

Completing Your Claim
Once the damage from your claim has been repaired, the item(s) are replaced, or you’ve received a cash settlement, your claim team will be in position to complete your claim.
